About Moxie Collective...

Moxie Collective is a Houston-based sewing and craft workshop studio founded by Michaela Bradley. For over 10 years, Michaela has been building her entrepreneurial dream – creating a space where beginners, parents with kids, and creative adults can learn to sew, crochet, and connect with a like-minded community.

With classes ranging from beginner sewing workshops to advanced design sessions, Moxie Collective serves everyone from first-time crafters to experienced makers looking to level up their skills.

Challenges

Before partnering with Dash Activate Online, Moxie Collective had been through the agency gauntlet.

“I’ve worked with a lot of marketing agencies who are kind of chasing a dollar.” — Michaela Bradley, Founder

Despite having an engaged local audience and strong organic content, the paid advertising wasn’t converting the way it should.

The core problem wasn’t the ads – it was the funnel.

When we audited the account and scraped hundreds of ad comments, a clear pattern emerged. The same questions appeared over and over:

– “Where are you located?”
– “How much does it cost?”
– “Do I need to bring my own sewing machine?”
– “Is this beginner-friendly?”

These weren’t objections. They were signals that potential customers wanted to buy — but couldn’t find the information they needed to make a decision.

Ad Comments Before:

The ads were generating interest.

The landing pages were creating confusion.

Every unanswered question was a leak in the bucket.

Solutions Implemented

We didn’t start with new ads. We started with the funnel.

1. Eliminating Cognitive Load

We restructured the landing pages to front-load the three things every visitor needed to know instantly:

– Where is this? (Houston location, neighborhood, parking)
– What do I get? (Materials provided, no equipment needed, class format)
– Is this for me? (Beginner-friendly, adults, parents + kids)

No scrolling required.

No hunting for answers.

The hero section answered the subconscious questions that were causing bounce.

2. Comment-Driven Creative Strategy

We used the scraped ad comments to build a messaging framework around self-identifying labels customers were already using:

– “Houston moms”
– “Total beginners”
– “People who’ve had a sewing machine forever but never used it”

This language went directly into ad hooks, headlines, and landing page copy – creating instant recognition and reducing friction.

3. Psychology-Driven Creative Strategy

We didn’t just make prettier ads. We engineered them around the real psychology blocking beginners from booking.

The Core Insight:
“Adult beginners delay starting because they fear irreversible mistakes more than lack of ability.”

People don’t avoid sewing because it’s hard – they avoid it because fabric, machines, and projects feel non-reversible. Every mistake costs money, time, or materials. That anxiety freezes them before they even try.

Our creative strategy attacked this directly.

Framework: TEEP-Aligned Messaging

We mapped each ad to the customer’s decision stage:
Trigger – “I want to learn something new”  – Emotional resonance: show the calm, connection, and pride of making.
Explore – “What are my options?” – Position workshops as the guided path vs. YouTube chaos.
Evaluate – “Is this right for me?” – Proof: real beginners, real outcomes, clear pricing.
Purchase –  “I’m ready — make it easy” – Remove friction: location, timing, what to expect.

Psychology in Practice:

Mindstate: Optimistic Competence — Messaging focused on “You CAN do this” and “Faster learning comes from better feedback, not talent.”

Self Model: Ideal Self. Ads targeted aspiration (“Real beginners. Real finished clothes.”) rather than shame.

Error Compression:  Positioned classes as the antidote to self-teaching frustration: “We teach the steps between steps – that’s why it finally clicks.”

Creative That Converted:

Our highest-performing ad (14.2x ROAS) was a simple slideshow of smiling students after class — no fancy production, just visible proof that beginners succeed here.

The copy:

“This is how every Moxie class ends. Smiling. Proud. And totally hooked. Even if you came in not knowing a thing.”

Result: Conversion rates tripled. Ad comment confusion dropped to near zero. Weekly revenue matched former monthly totals.

Some of the CREATIVE TESTS we ran:

Results Achieved

The impact was immediate.

Within the first 30 days, the changes to funnel structure and creative strategy produced measurable shifts across every key metric.

Conversion Rate: 3x Improvement

Before: Visitors landed on pages cluttered with options, hunted for basic info, and bounced.

After: Every question answered above the fold. Conversion rates nearly **tripled** as friction disappeared.

Ad Comment Confusion: Eliminated

Before: Every ad thread flooded with “Where are you located?”, “How much?”, “Is this beginner-friendly?”

After: Those questions stopped. The ads and landing pages now answer them before they’re asked.

Revenue: 4x Monthly Growth

Before: Revenue fluctuated, constrained by funnel inefficiency.

After: Moxie Collective now generates in a single week what previously took an entire month.

Expansion: New Markets in Planning

With Houston now running on a proven system, Michaela is actively exploring new locations — confident the foundation scales.
